Remember when parents used to (and still do) say, “Be careful of your eyes! You only have one pair!”
Well, mom and dad might be full of crap, now, as an Italian start-up company called MHOX is working toward creating artificial eyes using bioprinting technology. In fact, the company isn’t just looking to make replacement eyes for people who have lost their sight; the company also wants to expand on what we think of as human vision.
“Latest developments in bioprinting and biohacking let us imagine that in the near future it would be possible to easily print organic, functional body parts, allowing the human to replace defected districts or enhance standard performance,” MHOX designer Filippo Nassetti told the international design website Dezeen.
