Sea Myth Debunked: Baby Sea Turtles Are Good Swimmers 







After sea turtles hatch from their ocean-side nests, they scamper to the sea and disappear for several years, a period of time referred to as the “lost years.”

It has been thought that the turtle are subject to the whims of ocean currents and simply drift along during their adolescent years; however a new study has found that young sea turtles are actually strong swimmers.

Published in the journal Current Biology, the new study used satellite tracking technology to reveal that sea turtles between 6 and 18 months of age are very active swimmers.
